WHY I HATE THE “LIKE” BUTTON

There has been a running controversy about the LIKE button on Facebook.

Many think that there should be a DISLIKE button for the things that some publish and we don’t like, approve or consider appropriate. I don’t care about a dislike button. I HATE the like button as is.

One of the problems with the like button is that it makes people lazy. I mean, why not interact with your friend instead of just pressing on “like”. Is it that hard to say “thank you” to a happy birthday note instead of just putting “like” on your well and thoughtfully constructed words? Yeah, like I give a rats ass, but rude, nevertheless.

Another problem is the “like” overkill. You post a full album of pictures from your latest trip, celebration, party or whatever, and then everybody starts pressing the damn “like” button on EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. My cell goes NUTS, beeping and blinking and vibrating. It goes all shaky on me! C’mon people! Like the WHOLE album or talk about the pics, but to “like” 30 one of them? Ridiculous!

Finally is this absurd practice of “like” & comment. The main reason people “like” something is to get into the thread. Yeah, I know what you do so don’t give me that look. The thing is, if you make a comment, you WILL BE in the thread, so why the overkill? Guess it goes back to the first reason I hate the “like”. We are LAZY and like everything lazy, we do things automatically.

If I could change only one thing in Facebook, it would be death to the LIKE button. I really don’t LIKE IT.
