About Capote’s life, Wikipedia reports three facts that I would like to copy in here:

  1. Capote was openly homosexual. Also a drug and alcohol addicted person. Although Capote seemed never really to embrace the Gay Rights Movement, his own openness about homosexuality and his encouragement for openness in others makes him an important player in the realm of Gay Rights nonetheless;
  2. Capote was well known for his distinctive, high-pitched voice and odd vocal mannerisms, his offbeat manner of dress, and his fabrications; and
  3. Capote spent four years writing the book aided by his lifelong friend Harper Lee.

This is what the movie was about. The emphasis on the crime or the assassin is only present to focus on the real plot: a writer gathering all that was needed to inspire his non-fiction novel. As for my review, I will only say: “Philip Seymour Hoffman, how dared you leave us so soon?”
