Captain Phillips is a fine movie but, in my opinion, not one deserving awards’ nominations. Same goes to the four novel actors and Tom Hanks. After the action associated to the coup, I found the movie slow, extremely predictable, frustrating, and unnerving. Yes, I can imagine that it felt exactly the same for Captain Phillips in real life. It could have been told in much less time though.

Now, the last 20 minutes, especially after he got finally rescued, felt incredibly emotional, satisfying, and rightfully victorious. Mr. Hanks nailed it flawlessly! Nevertheless, I would have loved to see the aftermath, his recovery from the initial shock, his coping with media, the pressure of living a “normal” life again and his emotions upon returning to work.
