I absolutely loved this film. Based on true events, with a clever screenplay written by Steve Coogan who also shines as a very British political journalist, and yet another fine score from Alexandre Desplat, this movie salutes compassion, forgiveness and a very distinctive pragmatic attitude that honors life. Dame Judi Dench is adorable as an Irish old lady still not ready to quit searching for his lost son. Impressed me that although Dench is legally blind, she is still able to perform and connect with the viewer in such an intimate way. You simply don’t notice it!

I attended a school ruled by catholic nuns so I was perfectly able to resonate with these evil, frustrated and resented creatures who think they can humiliate, abuse, torture and deprive girls from dignity and inner beauty because that is the “Lord’s” plan. There are exceptions, yes, but are so frightening scarce!
