I really liked this movie and all its nuances. It felt like having a buffet that included all possible sources of drama in one hilarious family setting. It never ceases to amaze me how people from same parents can turn out to be so absurdly different. Different points of view, different memories, different impact, different taste, different problem’s solving techniques, different ways of expressing emotion, different ways of tackling life.
All performances contributed to the ensemble but I want to focus on three of them: Bateman exudes vulnerability with such easiness that it was very easy to connect with his character. Jane Fonda remains spectacular and I will die admiring her body… her body of work, I meant. Tina Fey is a comedian that I have always despised for the mere fact that she has never accomplished making me laugh. But in this movie, her acting skills appealed to me. Natural, simple, motherly and well in tune with her role. I even found myself actually laughing at a couple of her scenes. All in all, this movie is a comedy. My kind of comedy: unpretentious.
