Ok, what is sci-fi to me? is the question I must finally resolve inside. Why did I absolutely liked this movie while, with others, I even reject the opportunity to watch them? Believability might be the answer. For example, R2D2, C3PO, Data and Bicentennial Man I adored, but Chewbacca, Ewoks, Apes, Spiderman, Hulk, etc. creeps me out.

So I must conclude that everything related to a future with technology appeals to me while everything associated with mutants with an animal look repels me. Everything that happens on Earth is alright while if it takes place on other planets / galaxies / stars / worlds, then not so much. If is in a nearby future I have more chances of enjoying the movie than if the action takes place in a time way beyond my imagination. Past and time traveling seem to remain acceptable.

Nonetheless, what I appreciated most about this movie was not its sci-fi / techie orientation but the message: human beings can’t handle power. Not even those with the most altruist intentions. That is the chip missing in our DNA. The one we can’t create because it would contradict its own creation purpose: free will. Transcendence is to remain alive in the memory of others. When no one else remembers us, then that’s when we have actually died. But we want more… don’t we?
