A very exuberant visual biopic that gets inside the upside down world of this iconic fashion designer. In spite of not recognizing any actor from before, the acting was flawless, the times from his rise to his fall were sumptuously documented and the fashion itself, exquisite.

The lavish mannerism and frailty attained by Pierre Niney to resemble Yves, are outstanding.

Now, with all that said, I would have loved to learn more about the man behind the talented artist; his childhood, his distinctive nervousness, his insecurities, his lifetime relationship with Pierre, who was not only his lover but also the responsible of creating the YSL couture house and the economical brain behind Yves’ creativity. As the movie reached its end, I found myself craving to know more about the intimacy between them too and the cause for their romantic split.

But I have hope, there is another film, soon in theaters, named Saint Laurent that perhaps will give me pass-way to these less flamboyant aspects of his life.
